Hogan Assessments for Recruitment
We use the Hogan Assessments to help support selection processes. Hiring panels use the results from the Hogan tools – HPI, HDS and MVPI to help verify information gleaned during the interview, from a person’s CV, and referee checks. Incorporating these personality measures into your recruitment process provides another lens to help ascertain how suitable a person is for a role.
Our process when using the Hogan Assessments to support your recruitment
Recruitment candidates complete the Hogan testing, they are debriefed on their results and given comprehensive verbal feedback. The recruitment panel receives written and verbal feedback on the candidate and uses this information as one part of their selection process. Click here for more information on our process
Hogan Assessments for Leadership Development
We use the Hogan Assessments for Development as part of our offering. The Hogan assessments – HPI, HDS and MVPI are valuable for helping an individual to understand their personality strengths, their likely behavior under pressure (or dark side characteristics), their personality values and how these are likely to impact on the culture they promote as a leader, and their key development areas. If you are keen to help grow capability and develop individuals in your team, then please contact us for more information.
Our process when using the Hogan Assessments to support your leadership development
Development participants complete the Hogan testing, they receive verbal feedback, a comprehensive development report, and discussion around their development objectives. When a team goes through the individual development process, a Hogan Team Report can also be generated and a team session facilitated based on the Hogan data.
What are the Hogan Personality Assessments?
Hogan Assessment offer three personality type assessments. Depending on your requirements, you can choose a testing battery including one, two or all three assessments. The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI), the Hogan Development Survey (HDS) and Hogan’s Motives, Values, and Preferences Inventory (MVPI) are all described below –
Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI)
“The Bright Side of Personality: day-to-day personality and leadership style”
The Hogan Personality Inventory (HPI) assesses normal, or bright-side personality – qualities that describe how we relate to others, organise our work, and learn on a day-to-day basis. Whether your goal is to find the right hire or develop stronger leaders, assessing normal personality gives you valuable insight into how a person will approach their work, how they will lead, their personality strengths, and opportunities for improvement.
Hogan Development Survey (HDS)
“The Darkside of Personality: under-pressure traits and personality derailers”
The Hogan Development Survey (HDS) assesses counterproductive tendencies or risk factors that may be apparent when aperson is tired, pressured, bored, or feeling distracted in their role. These tendencies may inhibit interpersonal relationships and be detrimental to a person’s ability to build and lead a team.
Most people have at least a moderate risk of displaying one or two of these tendencies. However, the degree to which these behaviours may be exhibited depends largely on a person’s ability to handle pressure or stress. We can gauge this by looking at the person’s results on the Hogan Personality Inventory to see how others are likely to perceive their stress tolerance, and openness to feedback.
Motives, Values, and Preferences Inventory (MVPI)
“Drivers and Motivators: interests, values and team culture”
The Hogan MVPI assesses the things that a person enjoys and that indicate what kinds of jobs, work and environment they will likely find most satisfying. It can be used to evaluate the fit between a person and an organisational culture; provide useful data on how to manage someone; and help to understand a persons interests, motives, and drivers. The MVPI assists in uncovering the values a person is likely to encourage as a leader and the type of culture they can be expected to build or promote. It is a useful framework in helping to understand how someone makes decisions and the guiding-posts they base these decisions upon.
