What is the Individual Development Plan (IDP) Tool?

The Individual Development Plan (IDP) is an online tool we created after years of working with leaders and professionals on their growth and development. Too often, development plans were either written by us as coaches or left incomplete because it was difficult for people to craft meaningful goals on their own.

The IDP tool changes that. It provides a clear structure that helps coachees (sometimes alongside their coach or manager) design objectives that feel authentic, and truly resonate with what they want to achieve in their role or career.

Why was it built?

When supporting individuals, we often found that:

  • People struggled to write objectives that were specific and motivating.

  • Coaches or us as organisational psychologists often ended up writing the plan for them.

  • Assessments (e.g., personality tools or 360-degree feedback) provided insight but didn’t always lead to clear action.

The IDP tool was built to bridge that gap. It helps people take ownership of their development while ensuring objectives are crafted in a way that drives real progress.
